Welcome! The Boone Ultimate Alliance was established in the late 70s - early 80s by The Nomads, Appalachian State University's (ASU) club ultimate team. Around 2000, the Lady Nonads emerged on the scene to birth ASU women's ultimate.
Starting in 2005 local pickup games began and the passion for ultimate began to grow beyond the college scene. BUA was formed in Spring 2008 to establish ONE Boone ultimate community.
Thus far, BUA has had 19 leagues, supported a co-ed club team from 2008 to the present, and thanks to the efforts and expertise of George Ehrhardt and other parents, has a youth division growing and thriving.
Here we are in 2016 and it looks to be the most exciting year yet for the BUA. The Spring expansion saw Half league grow to six weeks and regular league, although suffering from some growing pains from a seven team schedule proved to be possible.
Most exciting of all is the implementation of Boone's first USAU sanctioned 2-day tournament this Summer. It is called The Chillout and has an adult mixed division of 14 teams and a youth division of 6 teams. Youth division is July 16-17 at Brookshire Park. Adult division is July 23-24 at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex and Brookshire Park. See Chillout tab to see if there is a way you can help monetarily or otherwise.
One of the best developments is that after 8 years, BUA has recognized a key element to our mission which has really always been there...leadership. BUA has trained quite a few folks how to lead over the past 8 years. We may even seek a 501-c3 to become an official leadership program eventually. If anyone is interested in helping with this development, please contact us at email@example.com
